Taiwan Sunshine exists to support and encourage families who have
children with special needs in Taiwan.
Our dream is that all families in Taiwan that have children with special needs will be able to receive the love, support, and encouragement they need to thrive.
We do this through:
• Sports: “I Am a Hero” Games, sports clubs and clinics, Everybody FIT, and surf/beach days
• Family Support: Family/Community Centers, family retreats, and community events and school clubs
• Training: Training for parents, teachers and churches; conferences, adult work opportunities
• Service: Connecting with communities to serve others: both in and outside of Taiwan; allowing individuals with special needs to serve other as well
Our Core Values:
Intrinsic Value: We believe that all children have intrinsic value because they are created by God, in His image, for a specific purpose that will honor Him. Their value does not depend on what their physical or mental
abilities are.
Family Oriented: We believe that the family is the core support unit for each child with special needs and focus on the needs of the entire family.
Community Centered: We aim to build, equip, and support communities and organizations to embrace and include families and children that have special needs. We believe that our goals are best accomplished when they are addressed in the context of a local community and encourage the involvement of individuals, organizations and
churches.
Service to All: We believe that because all people have value, we have the privilege of serving them, regardless of their personal and/ or religious backgrounds or beliefs.
Target Population:
The United Nations reports that 1 in 6 individuals globally have been impacted by a disability. Taiwan is no different. The Ministry of Health has reported 1,198,358 individuals have registered with a disability (2021). The Taiwan Ministry of
Education reports that there are 5,272 students enrolled at 29 special education schools across Taiwan. In addition, there are 115,446 students enrolled in special education classrooms and learning support classrooms in regular
schools (www.moe.gov.tw – 2018 survey data).
In addition, there are thousands of adults who have graduated from high school and are enrolled in day programs for adults, or live at home. Our goal is to reach these families and give them the support and encouragement they need.
Will you help us?

We hope that through Taiwan Sunshine, there will be such a radical shift in Taiwan’s culture to understand that each of these kids is valuable – not because of what they can contribute, but because they were made by God – with a specific purpose that only they can accomplish. We hope that Taiwan Sunshine will communicate that sense of HOPE with every family we come in contact with.
